A Weekend With My Family

Hi Stiletts,

001Some of you that follow me on IG may already know that my bf and I are long distance. Doesn’t quite feel or look like it cuz I’m always flying to see him every weekend, or he’s coming to me. I usually like to be over there more cuz I want to be around the kiddos. It’s a lot easier for me to travel than for all of them. I’ve been blessed and am fortunate enough to have the means to see them all as often as I do. But I can only imagine how hard it must be for some of the long distance couples out there. My heart goes out to you all. But LOVE conquers it all. So stay strong.

I live a very busy life when I’m not around them. I’m always at work so when it’s time to relax with my family, I do JUST that. It’s time to unwind. It’s very, very important to give yourself enough time to relax, and spend quality time with those that really matter. My boyfriend and I have this tradition of cooking and drinking wine on the weekends when we are together. We rarely get out the house. We bake stuff, we play board games with the kids, watch movies, etc. It’s my favorite time of the week.

So this weekend was no different. I took Friday off to come spend a long Easter weekend with them all. Usually I’m the one that cooks lunch and dinner in the family, and my bf makes breakfast. But this time I made them some kulac, an Albanian dish usually made for any meal you like, eaten with feta cheese, plain yogurt, or chicken. The way it’s cooked is basically flour mixed with a bit of baking soda and salt. You add in a bit of warm water and you mix it all. When the substance becomes thicker and more solid, you split it into many small pieces and make them round and flat. Then you fry them in a pan full of vegetable oil until they’re fully cooked. I’m not good at explaining cooking procedures, but hopefully you get the gist of it.

My grandma used to make this every Sunday morning. I think I want to start the same routine with our family. Hopefully they like it. They seemed to have enjoyed it today, although I think I slightly burned the bottoms of some of them. They weren’t feeling that so much haha! I gotta practice more clearly.
Kayleigh, my bf’s older daughter, had track meet this weekend, so we all went to support. It’s actually my first time going to one. I played soccer my whole childhood and high school so I have never been to any other sport events. I think Jasmine took me to a Lakers game once, and another time I had to take one of our biggest partners to a Lakers game as well, but I’m not much of a basketball fan so I honestly can’t say I appreciated it much LOL.

I have to say I enjoyed the track meet. Maybe it’s cuz Kayleigh was running and I was rooting for her. I don’t know. But I’m excited to go to many more. Delaney, her sister, also runs. They run different events. So we got a family full of runners now. I have got to get better at this haha.

What else did we do? Hmmm oh yea! Today we watched Peter Pan. I had never seen it. Ok don’t judge! There are a LOT of movies/cartoons I haven’t seen. I haven’t had time to really watch any TV since I moved to United States, so can’t blame me.But they have made it a mission to fill me in on everything so so far they’ve made me watch “Pretty Woman”, “Elf”, “Forrest Gump” etc.
Some of them I didn’t like haha! But the others are pretty good. They also make me try all kinds of food that I have never tried. This weekend they taught me about “peeps” since you know, it’s Easter. I loveeee it! Oh and they taught me about Pizza Bites! HEAVEN!!!!

So an hour ago we just finished playing “CLUE”! Had never even heard of it prior to today. It was definitely fun. Not as much when I lost, grrrrrrrrrrr, but promise you I will win next time. I’m such a sore loser. I just can’t stand it 🙂 But I’ll get the hang of it. When you have a family of 5 it’s hard to decide on what movie to watch or game to play or what to eat, so what we do is write down what each one of us wants and then put it all in a basket. Then we play rock, paper, scissors between one another and the person that beats us all gets to pick from the basket.

Lucas, the youngest one, loves Nerf Gun War. I don’t even know if I’m spelling it right. He literally walks in our master bedroom at 8 am, with a nerf gun in his hand, ready to shoot us up! LOL. Thank God I’m a morning person. I actually love it. He shows up with nothing but underwear on, it’s the cutest thing ever! How do you say “no” to that?! Then we either wait for the other two to join us, or I go and bother them in their bedrooms lol. They hate it but they’ll live 🙂

So yea, it’s not much of a weekend, but it’s everything and more to me. It’s true quality time. It takes me away from all my daily duties and routines, and it gives me a peace of mind and love.

Now I’m sitting on our dining table, with a glass of red wine, while Lucas is playing Minecraft on his Ipad; my bf planning our family trip to London and Albania this summer, and the girls are in the Living Room watching  TV.

Welcome to a weekend with my family and thank you for reading.
